Get a woman treated for $250

While physical treatment of fistula is successful 90% of the time, capacity is limited and there is essentially no focus on the psychological treatment required by some of the women. Our treatment program is focused on the whole patient - not just getting her fistula repaired, but counseling her back from the ostracism and exclusion many of these woman face. In both cases, we work through local doctors and practitioners, believing it much more efficient to support local efforts than to fly in doctors from outside. This way, the people we support don’t ever leave, they just keep getting better at what they do.

Please know that 100% of your donation goes to programs that empower local people. Here are some examples of how we will spend your $250:

•Paying hospital fees (including food, linens, drugs, etc.) for fistula patients
•Hiring local counselors to work with traumatized fistula patients
•Facilitating training for local doctors and nurses to increase team skill levels

In all these activities we only use local people to affect change and we work to build economies of scale (meaning the more people we can help, the less it costs to help each of them individually).
