Finding a fistula patient can at times be like finding a needle in a haystack that is spread over a square mile.  Fistula affects the most desolate populations and is usually a condition shamefully hidden by the women it affects.  Even when a patient is identified, considerable effort is required to convince her that there is hope.  This effort is followed by the expense of organizing transport when most carriers will not allow a fistula patient to ride on a public bus. 

Please remember that 100% of your donation goes to programs that empower local people. Here are some examples of how we will spend your $40:

1. •Hiring local social workers to visit the most remote villages
   

2. •Putting on local programs to teach communities that fistula is a treatable condition
   

3. •Organizing transport to and from a treatment facility
   

In all these activities we only use local people to affect change and we work to build economies of scale (meaning the more people we can help, the less it costs to help each of them individually).
